The Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge is seeking an experienced DV Counsellor.

We are looking for someone who is qualified and experienced, who thrives in a counselling role. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of counselling and group therapeutic support to women who are victims of domestic and family violence.

You must have appropriate tertiary qualifications in Family Therapy, Social Work, Counselling or related discipline with eligibility for membership of a professional body. You must also have an awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Experience in providing case management and therapeutic counselling
  • Facilitating group work and addressing attitudes and beliefs
  • Conduct client intake, risk and needs assessments
  • Create treatment plans using appropriate interventions
  • Delivering community development strategies aimed at increasing awareness
  • Maintain client files, case notes and risk management documentation
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information and demonstrate strong organisation, planning and time management skills
