As the Thrift Shop Business Consultant

In this position you will work alongside dedicated Thrift Shop Managers, Corps Officers and the Victorian Divisional team to enhance the performance and safety of our Corps Thrift Shop business across Victoria.

This role will be based at the Mitcham Divisional Headquarters however travel to metro and regional Victorian areas will be required.

The Role

Reporting to the Victorian Divisional Commander, you will be involved in developing and implementing processes to support and heighten the management skills of our Thrift Shop Managers and their teams. Other key accountability areas include:

  • Support Corps Officers and Thrift Shop Managers to deliver our mission and achieve commercial outcomes
  • Resource Corps Officers with tools to hold Managers accountable for planning, setting goals and analysing performance data
  • Improved performance and branding of Thrift Shops
  • Coaching, train and developing the team member’s skills to improve performance.
  • A safe working environment is maintained with stores by actively resolving safety issues in a timely manner
  • Assist in the development and implementation of plans, to deliver outstanding customer service, visual merchandise and effective control of inventory

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Retail management experience with a proven record of consistent outcomes
  • Retail experience preferably managing in a multi-site/geographically dispersed store environment
  • Ability to understand and effectively explain technical information for training purposes
  • Demonstrated understanding of the stages of the sales process to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Experience in store performance uplift eg. upgrading stores, setting up new stores, relocating stores
  • Excellent relationship building and highly developed communication skills

The Salvation Army is a Child Safe Organisation. All child facing roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check.

Hours/Salary

This position is full time 38 hours per week, fixed term for 2 years. The role is classified as Award Free.
