Stretch-A-Family (SAF) is currently recruiting for an exciting role within the policy and compliance space. We're a not-for-profit organisation and have been supporting families for over 40 years. About the role:

Reporting to the Operations Manager - Business, the Policy Officer will assist in driving the review, development and implementation of the agencies Policies and Framework and take a lead role throughout our reaccreditation process and ongoing compliance. The role will focus on:

  • Writing, developing and implementing policy, processes and procedures for all business and delivery areas within SAF in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and implementing knowledge and awareness of key governmental policy issues as they appear in the current political debate for relevance and applicability to SAF and Out of Home Care (OOHC)
  • Taking a lead role to co-ordinate and manage SAFs reaccreditation process

Essential requirements:

  • High level of experience and understanding of contemporary policy and practice issues experience (preferably Out of Home Care, Child Protection, Housing, Aged Care)
  • Demonstrated skills in policy submission and Brief writing
  • Ability to work independently and seek support and supervision as required
  • Demonstrated experience in project management to meet project timelines and deliverables
  • Proven competence in oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in research and policy development or analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in program and resource development or implementation
  • Experience in compliance, audit and accreditation processes

Skills & experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience writing policy and processes (preferably within the not for profit sector)
  • High level understanding of contemporary social work policy and practice issues
  • Demonstrated experience in research and policy development and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated experience in program and resource development or implementation
  • Proficiency in the use of information technology, and social media platforms
  • Able to handle periods of high workload and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and seek support and supervision as required
