The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. Our people reach out to the most vulnerable in our community through our Conferences, Special Works and Vinnies shops. Department Overview

Vinnies shops are venues where goods are collected, sorted and displayed. Quality donated goods are then either given to people requiring assistance or made available for customers to purchase at reasonable prices.

The Role

The Shop Supervisor will facilitate the efficient operation of the store, ensure compliance with policies/procedures and guidelines relating to customers, people we assist, financial handling and reporting, merchandising, stock management and work, health and safety matters. The role will:

  • lead and work alongside a team of employees and volunteers to complete tasks as directed by the Area Manager
  • provide induction and training as required
  • process and monitor sales transactions, report discrepancies or irregularities
  • process paperwork e.g. vouchers presented by people we assist in accordance with the Society's guidelines
  • order stock, manage deliveries, oversee pricing, store display, general housekeeping
  • perform the duties of a shop assistant when required

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience supervising a team in a retail environment
  • Flexibility to work weekends and extended opening hours as required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work with financial targets and budgets.
  • Willingness to uphold the ethos and mission of the St Vincent de Paul Society, NSW in all dealings with the store.
