Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement (ALRM) is a community based organisation that provides legal representation and advice to the Aboriginal people of South Australia. ALRM conducts legal representation and advice from offices in Adelaide, Ceduna and Port Augusta.

The Criminal Lawyer position ensures the delivery of consistently high quality and culturally appropriate legal services to clients at Pt Augusta, Whyalla, Pt Pirie and the APY land circuits. There would be opportunities to travel to remote Aboriginal communities and the APY Lands.

We are looking for candidates who have a strong commitment to social justice and demonstrated experience in advocacy in the Magistrates Court.


  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to rights based service delivery for clients from Aboriginal backgrounds.
  • Experience in the practice of Criminal Law.
  • Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the criminal legal system, its' requirement for effective client representation and its' impact upon Aboriginal people.

Salary is negotiable subject to years of experience as a legal practitioner.
