Our Volunteer Family Connect program links vulnerable families with young children in Inner West Sydney to volunteers from the community with parenting experience. We are seeking a Program Coordinator to take charge of the strategic and day-to-day management of the program and continue to take it from strength to strength.

Where you come in:

In this part time, maximum term (4 days per week for 12 months) role, based in our Surry Hills office, you will work with a dedicated team of trained and skilled volunteers to provide in home family support in the local community. You will have responsibility to deliver the objectives of the Volunteer Family Connect program; to increase parents' confidence in parenting and increase family connections to other people in the community. You will be part of our NSW Programs team and report to our Regional Coordinator, NSW.

You will make an impact by:

  • Managing the day to day delivery of the Volunteer Family Connect (VFC) program in the suburbs of Inner West Sydney
  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to effectively achieve program aims
  • Providing outreach case management support to vulnerable families and building family capacity
  • Monitoring and evaluating program performance
  • Actively seeking opportunities to develop the VFC program and the skills of the volunteer team
  • Establishing and maintaining effective networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders

If we could compose the perfect you…

… You have demonstrated experience in networking and consulting in the Community Sector, across various organisations and stakeholders. You also have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and advocate on behalf of families, and to apply strengths based practice in those situations.

This role requires:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Health or allied areas (Diploma a minimum requirement)
  • Experience leading and developing a successful team
  • Experience working with families and/or young children from diverse backgrounds and assessing their needs
  • Advanced computer, administration and data collection skills
  • Current driver's licence
