Where you come in:

This is a part-time (0.7 FTE), maximum term position (until 30th June 2019, with opportunity to extend pending funding) based in Ceduna, SA. You will support positive outcomes for families by assisting with the delivery, implementation, and review of the program's operations with attention to support for children and their rights. The Child Support worker will play a key role in working with parent's and other team members to create individualised tailored plans, sourcing evidence based or highly regarded information to share with staff and families and determining and supporting referrals to appropriate agencies.

Working over a range of shifts, including late afternoon (4pm-8.30pm) and one weekend shift per week, you will be part of our Supported Accommodation team and report to our Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Identifying and responding to the needs of children in the program in partnership with their caregiver/s
  • Supporting and promoting attachment within families accessing the service
  • Identifying and promoting links with other agencies and resources
  • Providing direction for the Supported Accommodation team around tailored support plans, age-appropriate activities and progress

You have an honest, friendly approach and can communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You can problem solve in complex and demanding situations. You have experience working collaboratively with clients and other services/agencies. You are a strong team player but are also comfortable working alone. You can work flexible hours and on weekends.

This role requires:

  • Experience supporting children and families who are in vulnerable or at-risk situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Tertiary qualification/s in Children's Services, Social Work, Health or Community Services, is preferred, however consideration will be given or to other relevant qualifications or proven experience
  • Current Driver's Licence
