The Role:

The Community Capacity Building Worker plays an integral role within a multidisciplinary team of professionals in supporting and working with clients who are at risk of, or currently experiencing housing stress. 

The Community Capacity Building Worker seeks to build capacity of staff, clients, and the larger community in order to address the structural inequalities that create disadvantage. The role is responsible for contributing to the achievement of organisational outcomes that have been identified in VincentCare’s Client Engagement and Client Participation Frameworks, and works closely with the Client Participation and Engagement Support Worker to develop opportunities for client engagement, participation, and to provide capacity building activities necessary for full and effective client participation.

Selection Criteria:

  • Appropriate qualifications in social work, community development or other related field;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Social Justice, Community Development principles and practice;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to contribute to a positive team culture and work in partnership with VincentCare programs, key stakeholders and external service providers;
  • Experience and knowledge of housing systems, legislation and rental agreements;
  • Knowledge of Government, community and private sector housing/support systems and associated issues
  • A passion to redress disadvantage in our community and to work diligently towards ending chronic homelessness;
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
