The Project Officer will provide support to the for the implementation and delivery of the PHN Regional Planning Group work plan, as well as supporting the Co-Chair in the preparation of high-level activity work plans and assigned projects. 

This project involves engagement with stakeholders (both internal and external) across the country with an overall aim to support PHNs with their development of Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention plans as per The Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan.

  • Improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time. 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Located at Heatherton, the Project Officer:

  • provides high level coordination of projects and ensures they are completed within deadlines,
  • maintains operational and project documentation,
  • gathers, collates and analyses information and data for regional planning,
  • liaises with internal and external stakeholders, and
  • maintains accurate and efficient information storage and filing systems for projects, contracts and reporting,
  • supports the Co-Chair. 

Skills and experience

This role requires high level administrative and project skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy, good organisational skills and a pro-active approach to work tasks, a good understanding of information management systems and/or reporting systems, as well as well-developed skills in the use of Microsoft office products. 

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in providing high level coordination and support of projects, activities or programs (preferably in a health-related environment), proven experience in building strong, positive relationships through stakeholder engagement, and knowledge of existing networks and how primary health care programs operate.
