About Us: 

Survivors & Mates Support Network (SAMSN) is a not-for-profit organisation co-founded by male survivors of child sexual abuse.  SAMSN offers a range of FREE professional & peer support services available to men and their families regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.  SAMSN aims to build a support network that gives voice and agency to male survivors.  These services include individual planned support, monthly meetings and professionally facilitated eight-week groups, as well as supporters and service providers workshops.

The Role:

The successful applicant will be employed as part of a team and most importantly, will work alongside individuals (men) and provide lived experience support, as appropriate, to men attending SAMSN's group programs and supporter workshops; and work collaboratively with other teams to embed lived experience and expertise across all SAMSN activities, values and polices.

The role will also involve working in conjunction with the Community Engagement team and collaborate with targeted services and stakeholders in the communities to reach harder to reach groups within the marginalised communities such as:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • People with a disability
  • LGBTQI and CALD communities
  • Young men
  • People in residential or institutional care
  • People who are homeless
  • Rural and regional areas

There will be a focus on doing this in a trauma informed and culturally safe way.

Selection Criteria


  • NSW Driver's Licence
  • Demonstrated coordination, administration and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and responsibly
  • Good spoken, written and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and cultural safety
  • Demonstrated understanding of WH&S legislation and an employee's responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011


  • Demonstrated active leadership and connection within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community

Successful applicants will be required to have a current National Police Check and a Working with Children Check.
