  • Palmerston Farm Therapeutic Community
  • Full time permanent position

Palmerston Association is a leading and respected not for profit organisation supporting people with alcohol and other drug issues in Western Australia.

Palmerston Farm is a residential treatment service for people affected by alcohol and other drugs, located on a 10 acre property 30 minutes south of Perth.  Our 43 bed facility offers medium to long term care based upon the therapeutic community (TC) model. A therapeutic community is a treatment facility in which the community itself, through self-help and mutual support, is the principal means for promoting personal change.

In a therapeutic community residents and staff participate in the management and operation of the community, contributing to a psychologically and physically safe learning environment where change can occur. Within a therapeutic community there is a focus on social, psychological and behavioural dimensions of substance use, with the use of the community to heal individuals emotionally, and support the development of behaviours, attitudes and values of healthy living.  This is known as the “community as method”.

Our 24/7 residential therapeutic community in Wellard is looking for a coordinator to join our team.  The coordinator’s role is to ensure the effective operation of the TC and to lead and support the team to develop services that are responsive to client needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the residential services manager to ensure delivery of evidence based services.

Applications for this position are sought from people with team leadership experience with sound clinical experience in the alcohol and other drug, and/or mental health fields.

Salary is Level 7.1 ($87,200).  The conditions of employment are attractive and include salary packaging benefits.
