Our inspiring and incredible yellow army of volunteers help us to fight the food waste fight and deliver exceptional high impact events and activities within the community throughout Australia. Our volunteering program provides OzHarvest with access to a broad spectrum of expertise to support major events such as the CEO CookOff, educational programs such as FEAST, NEST and Nourish as well as other core business activities.

OzHarvest was founded by Ronni Kahn in 2004, after noticing the huge amount of delicious consumable food discarded every day. She decided there had to be a better way. OzHarvest now rescues surplus food to feed those in need all around Australia. We also educate the public and our clients about food waste, nutrition and living a healthier lifestyle.

Since Inception OzHarvest has achieved some great milestones:

  • Over 109 million meals delivered
  • Over 37,000 tonnes of food rescued
  • Over 1300 charities helped
  • $1 = 2 meals to those in need

Led and mentored by the inspirational Ronni Kahn, we are a passionate team of people who are driven by the purpose and the desire to bring the OzHarvest effect to life everyday.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish systems and processes for sourcing, engaging, nourishing and managing our Gold Cost "Yellow Army" of volunteers who enable OzHarvest's Purpose of Nourishing Our Country
  • Manage our volunteers for critical, exciting and unique OzHarvest Events, activities and core business requirements
  • Manage the recruitment and selection of volunteers and their onboarding
  • Conduct volunteer induction, activity briefs and materials, to ensure volunteers are informed on how to carry out their designated role in an effective and safe manner
  • Manage the production of the regular OzHarvest Volunteer Callouts and subsequent volunteer rostering
  • Assist the OzHarvest team with the development of new programs and initiatives to ensure that volunteers are well supported in their roles
  • Establishing an effective system and process that can be sufficiently embedded to ensure volunteer coordination can be sustained beyond the grant funded role

To be successful in this role

  • Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years’ equivalent experience in Volunteer Management, Human Resource Management, Workforce Management or Project Management
  • Sound project or resource management skills
  • Exceptional engagement and communication skills
  • The flexibility to attend both volunteer and corporate engagement activities

Please note you must have a valid and current Police Check and Blue Card for this role.
