The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) in association with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation New South Wales Branch (ANMF NSW Branch) seeks a Paralegal Officer to join our Professional Services Team on a temporary full-time parental leave replacement.

In this role you will:

  • Assist the Legal Officers of the Professional Services Team in their day to day activities
  • Provide high quality, professional, accurate and timely services to our members as instructed by Legal Officers and Manager
  • Create and maintain quality systems and processes which assist the work of the Legal Officers.(In collaboration with Legal Officers and Manager)
  • Ensure the smooth running of the administrative functions of the Legal Services within the Professional Services Team.

To be considered for this role you require:

  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative or legal position and experience working within a team
  • Strong and demonstrable paralegal experience and knowledge
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work proactively
  • Exceptional attention to detail, spelling and grammatical skills
  • Demonstrate fast and accurate typing i.e. 60+ wpm from dictation and written copy
  • Organisational skills that are demonstrated by the smooth operation of the administrative functions of the team
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that are evidenced by a clear, concise, open manner of communicating with other internal and external stakeholders.
  • An ability to manage a diverse workload and to work to deadlines.
  • An ability to manage competing interests
  • Proven ability to record information accurately by keeping up to date records and files
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary information technology systems and proven competence in the use of Microsoft programs
  • Ability to maintain positive professional relationships and has a clear understanding of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • An ability to work cohesively within a team
  • Has a positive attitude toward change within the workplace
  • An ability to achieve positive outcomes by using a proactive rather than a reactive approach to your own workload management
