Specialist Case Worker - Domestic and Family Violence Service - Alice Springs

About Us:

At its core, NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – Walytja.

Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. 

Atunypa Wiru Minyma Uwankaraku’ Service is a domestic and family violence support and advocacy service for Aboriginal women and children living in the NPY region. The service is informed by a holistic relational understanding of violence that acknowledges the key role of family and community relationships in working effectively with indigenous clients. 

About the Role:

We are now recruiting for a Specialist Case Worker to join the Domestic and Family Violence Service (DFVS) on a 12 month fixed term contract.

This position is focused on the provision of narrative therapy support for the Domestic and Family Violence Service with NPY Women’s Council. The role addresses the need for expertise in complex clients (with a particular focus on young women) and narrative therapy for Aboriginal people experiencing trauma because of violence.

This role will contribute to building capacity with caseworkers to use narrative approaches on complex cases and to inform intensive casework. 

About the Candidate:

Ideally, you will have an understanding of and an ability to utilise narrative therapy to address violence from a community development perspective in accordance with NPYWC’s Violence Prevention Practice Framework.
