Organisation Overview:

NDS is the national industry association for disability services, representing over 900 nongovernment service providers. Collectively, our members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability. NDS’s members range in size from small support groups to large multi-service organisations, and are located in every State and Territory across Australia.

NDS promotes the full inclusion of people with disability and this commitment is outlined in our Disability Action Plan (DAP).

Background: The disability services sector in Western Australia is undergoing significant growth over the next two years with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme taking place.

NDS is managing a number of workforce development projects in WA to support the sector’s growth and transition.

Position Overview:

This position will provide specialist information services, including responding to NDIS related queries and requests for support from the sector. The role will include the use of NDIS readiness assessment tools, contribution to new resources, the development of fact sheets and supporting the operations of various working groups.

The position will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including government and disability sector organisations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provides NDS’s WA Sector Support services to service providers relating to the transfer and transition of existing WA state funded services to the NDIS.
  • Facilitates the resolution of information gaps through researching information and contributes to problem solving through interpreting information and compiling a written response.
  • Supports disability service organisations to assess NDIS readiness and need for further support.
  • Collates, analysis and reports key performance data across the information services portfolio.
  • Effective communication with the ability to facilitate face to face, video conference and phone meetings.
  • Provides executive support to working groups, communities of practice, and NDS SubCommittees.

Key Attributes:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of NDIS transitional requirements for service providers and in assessing organisational readiness.
  2. Demonstrated ability in researching, obtaining and interpreting accurate information on NDIS processes for stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated skills in providing executive support to working groups.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including a proven ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Demonstrated experience in achieving objectives on short term projects.
  6. Good computer literacy.
