The Communications and Community Engagement Officer will support the NAPWHA senior management team across a range of activities including writing and sourcing content and messaging for members, writing and managing content across a range of media and developing clear communication pathways for all people living with HIV to engage with NAPWHA.


NAPWHA is the peak non-government organisation representing people living with HIV in Australia. NAPWHA provides advocacy, policy, education and outreach for people living with HIV.

NAPWHA works across the range of HIV healthcare and positive education initiatives to promote the highest quality standards of care for positive people, to develop and encourage appropriate clinical and social research into the causes and prevention of HIV, and to advocate on national HIV issues. The NAPWHA secretariat works under the direction of the Executive Director to progress issues prioritised through the NAPWHA Strategic Directions and the NAPWHA Board of Directors.


This position will report directly to the National Policy Manager, and will include the following responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate and implement a range of communications including publications for broad distribution.
  • Project management of the NAPWHA ‘health literacy framework’ – including stakeholder engagement, budget accountability, report writing and delivering projects within set time-frames
  • Oversight of the upgrade and ongoing management of the NAPWHA website and social media.
  • Support NAPWHA’s membership and networks as directed by NAPWHA senior management
