Skylight Programs deliver a range of recovery oriented community mental health services by working alongside people experiencing mental illness, family and friends who care for them, and the broader general South Australian community.

Community Worker – Family Mental Health Support Service, APY Lands

Casual Employment. SACS Level 3 or 4. Based on APY Lands with accommodation in Ernabella provided. Multiple positions available.

Through partnership and consultation with Anangu the Community Development Coordinator will coordinate, deliver and evaluate Family Mental Health Support Services to children, adults and families within APY Lands communities.

Under the general direction of a Manager or delegate, the Community Worker will assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of high quality Skylight programs. The Community Worker will contribute to a collaborative and flexible team culture to build and maintain respectful and compassionate relationships with program participants. This will include working closely with community partner organisations and key stakeholders in a range of locations, including Skylight sites, community centres, local community settings, within people's homes and residential group accommodation.

The successful applicant will have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic setting, to work both autonomously and in small teams, and also meet the skills, knowledge and experience outlined in the Selection Criteria, including:

  • Demonstrated experience in working sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and of the issues affecting these communities
  • Demonstrated Ability to take initiative, problem solve and work autonomously when required
  • Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate after school activities and school holiday activities

 A current Drivers License is essential.
