About the role

Provide high quality, flexible support with a focus on enhancing the lives of children and young people in the Out of Home Care program to work across the Ipswich area. You will be required to think creatively to plan and implement youth work programs for the children and young people you support.

Please note: 

Our Youth Program runs a 24/7 roster model. You will be required to work sleepovers (night), weekend and public holiday shifts. Flexibility and reliability is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a team based environment to facilitate delivery of quality services to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people in a foster care setting.
  • You will contribute to the development and implementation of a range of individual, therapeutic, recreational or skills-development activities that are consistent with and supportive of the care plans developed for each child.
  • You will required to practice from a therapeutic/non-punitive framework.  

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or other related field) Please click here to ensure you meet the minimum qualification criteria for all recognised qualifications - Essential for eligibility 
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain) - Essential for eligibility
  • Unrestricted drivers licence and own vehicle with comprehensive insurance - Essential for eligibility
  • Demonstrated experience in providing a creative and flexible approach to people with individual needs
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Individual client care plan goals
  • Commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages. 
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with stakeholders e.g., Department of Housing, Department of Transport, Centrelink, Queensland Health and other community organisations.
  • Willingness to work within the philosophy of the Life Without Barriers organisation  

Desirable

    • Previous TCI training/understanding
    • Knowledge of CARE framework
    • Understanding of trauma informed practices.  

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
