About the role:

Life Without Barriers is looking for someone who shares their passion for finding safe and nurturing homes for young people in need. We are looking for someone to fill the role of ‘Carer Engagement Officer’ where you will assist potential foster carers through the early stages of the enquiry and assessment process.

Experience in the foster care sector is not mandatory, but passion for this purpose is.

Based in our Adelaide office, the Carer Engagement Officer plays a key role in helping generate new foster care enquiries, visiting those people who may be interested in becoming foster carers, and then guiding the applicant carers through the assessment process. With a focus on quality carer attraction, engagement and retention you will be a vital part of the Engagement and Assessment team to provide a supportive and positive introduction for new foster care families into the agency.

Given many potential foster carers work during the day, occasional evening and weekend work is required to meet them when they are available.

This is a full-time position until 30 June 2020 and comes with a Tool of Trade Vehicle and monthly Roster Day Off option.

Key responsibilities:

  • Meet with prospective foster carers and help guide them through the application and assessment process
  • Provide relevant information to foster care applicants through enquiry and screening stages
  • Work with management and marketing to assist with the design and implement of the carer attraction and engagement plan
  • Support the development of reports on successful recruitment activities and engagement of carers
  • Proactively engage with the community, including attending relevant events
  • Introduce carer applicants to their assessor and support the development of this relationship

Skills & experience:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent would be an advantage
  • Ability to work in a process driven environment
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Current Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
