About the Role

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in the lives of people with a disability. We are looking to create a pool of casuals who can service our Support Accommodation houses (residential houses with up 4 four clients with 24/7 support) and Community Access (day and weekend shifts taking clients to appointments and activities).

The positions require flexibility and availability at short notice and you must be available for all shift types.

Examples of shifts at the houses would be:
Day shifts – 9am – 5pm
Night shifts – 4pm - 10pm / 7am – 9am

*Please note this is an example and shifts will vary between houses.

We are looking for staff who are competent working with clients with high needs, varying medical, mental and physical disabilities.

Key areas of experience are: Dysphagia, Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, incontinence and personal care.  You must have experiencing working with clients with challenging behaviour.

Our new team members be trained across our houses and clients so that they can adapt and work wherever we need support.

Locations include – Banksia Grove, Midland, Beechboro, High Wycombe, Clarkson, Yanchep, Marangaroo, North Perth.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Promote and assist Clients to achieve goals identified in Person Centred Plans
  • Support in day to day living, promoting cooking, housekeeping, personal care (with male and female clients), hygiene, shopping etc
  • Assist Clients to develop independence and community networks
  • Utilise positive behaviour strategies
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or working towards
  • Significant experience working with people who have a Disability and challenging behaviours
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills with Clients, families and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Competent computer skills to complete online training and administration tasks
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate (shown prior to employment contract being issued)
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence and insured vehicle (as above)

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check.  First Aid Certificate must be current or refresher courses completed prior to an offer being made.
