About the role

We are looking for experienced Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (Group Homes) team on a Casual basis.  

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play an important role to support and empower People with disability to live independently in their own home, access the community and to achieve their individual goals. Your daily duties will include (but not limited to)

  • Supporting People with Disability to access and participate in the community
  • Utilising Positive Behaviour Support approaches to support clients exhibiting behaviours of concern
  • Assisting with domestic duties such as meal preparation, cleaning and other household tasks
  • Providing personal care support such as showering, toileting and personal grooming.
  • Medication administration
  • Adhering to individual plans, and working towards each clients goals

These roles will be based in various locations throughout the Newcastle region and successful applicants must be available and willing to work within a 24/7 rotating roster that involves regular shift work (including night shifts, weekends and public holidays).

Skills & Experience 

  • Certificate III in Disability, Community Services or similar and/or demonstrated experience supporting People with Disability
  • Experience in the provision of Positive Behaviour Support approaches to clients who display behaviours of concern would be highly regarded
  • Current First Aid Certificate & Drivers Licence
  • Ability to maintain clients privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster including weekends, nights and public holidays

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
