About the Role

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in the lives of people with a disability. The position is within one of our residential houses in Port Kennedy supporting 4 female clients who aim to live as independently as possible with the support of our dedicated team.

We currently have a maternity cover contract available for 7 months working 3 to 4 nights per week (night-shifts) with the opportunity to take on additional shifts when available.  Sleepover shift hours are: 5pm – 11pm (sleep at the house) and then 7am – 9am. You must be available for weeknights and weekends.

Our new team members must be both adaptable and flexible and ideally have experience working with clients with high needs, medical and physical disability.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Promote and assist Clients to achieve goals identified in Person Centred Plans
  • Support in day to day living, promoting cooking, housekeeping, hygiene, shopping etc.
  • Assist Clients to develop independence and community networks
  • Utilise positive behaviour strategies
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or working towards
  • Significant experience working with people who have a Disability and challenging behaviours
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills with Clients, families and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Competent computer skills to complete online training and administration tasks
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate (employment will not be offered without a current certificate)
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
