About the role:

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in the lives of People with a Disability. Clients will include adults and children with high medical needs, challenging behaviours, physical and intellectual disabilities, mental health issues and aged care.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play an important role to support and empower People with disability to live independently in the community.

Your daily duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Promote and assist Clients to achieve goals identified in Person Centred Plans
  • Support in day to day living, promoting cooking, housekeeping, personal care (with male and female clients), hygiene, shopping etc.
  • Assist Clients to develop independence and community networks
  • Ability to adapt and be creative within role
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

These roles will require successful applicants to be available and willing to work within a 24/7 roster that includes regular shift work, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Skills & experience:

  • Experience supporting People with Disability and/or complex needs and a Certificate III in Disability, Community Services or similar is preferred
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people and people who have a Disability and challenging behaviours
  • Competent computer skills to complete online training and administration tasks
  • Ability to maintain client’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster including weekends, nights and public holidays

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check prior to offer of employment.
