About Jubilee Australia

Jubilee Australia is a not-for-profit that engages in research and advocacy to promote economic justice for communities in the Asia-Pacific region and accountability for Australian corporations and government agencies operating there. You can find out more by visiting our website: www.jubileeaustralia.org.

About the role

We recently organised an event called ‘Talking justice in the Pacific’ where Australian author Tim Winton and Papuan activist and traditional land owner Lucielle Paru talked about Australia’s role as a neighbour in the Asia Pacific region. Topics that were covered included colonialism, land and sea rights for indigenous people across the Pacific, social justice, and environmental issues.

We had a volunteer filming the entire night (2 hours), and we are now looking for someone that can edit that down to a movie (30 minutes altogether). We have already gone through all the material and noted what we would like to include in the movie, so we are looking for someone that can edit it and help us tell a compelling story.

What’s in it for you?

As a volunteer for Jubilee Australia you will:

  • Gain valuable experience working for a not-for-profit
  • Develop your skills and expertise
  • Be a part of creating a movie that will make a difference

Commitment

This volunteer position is project-based, and we need someone that can commit to at least 30 hours. However and whenever you want to do those hours is completely up to you; it can be done over the span of a week or you can work 5 hours per week for 6 weeks etc.

You are the right person for this job if you:

  • Know how to edit videos to a professional standard
  • Have a high level of interest in social and economic justice
  • Are passionate about the role of Australian companies and government agencies in the Asia-Pacific
  • Have a desire to drive societal change through storytelling
  • Are a problem-solver and can work independently
  • Have access to video editing software

Although this is a project-based position, there are opportunities to come on as a permanent volunteer/intern if desirable.
