A rare and very attractive opportunity has become available for a communications and social marketing specialist to join HRA and guide the development and implementation of campaigns and communications strategies. Reporting to the CEO and based at the Fitzroy office (with flexibility to work from home), the successful candidate will work closely with the CEO in managing the following:

  1. Development of agreed campaigns and strategies.
  2. Communications with partners, volunteers and interested bodies to lobby for and lead change towards phasing out animal experimentation.
  3. Media requests and presentations at relevant forums, conferences, expos etc.
  4. Social media and website communications, press releases and interviews.
  5. Networking with relevant influencers, such as journalists, politicians, scientists.
  6. Donation appeals and funding sources through members, supporters and bequests etc.

The successful candidate will also contribute to other projects, such as writing case studies and compiling statistics.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the vision and shared objectives of HRA, and able to balance that passion and enthusiasm with well researched and evidence-based strategies in a calm, logical and well thought through manner and personal style. Articulate and well presented, the Campaigns and Communications Manager will be highly self-motivated, have great initiative and project management skills and possess some understanding and capacity to present and uphold arguments for ethical and humane practices in biomedical research. A background in communications, social advocacy and some technical exposure would be advantageous.
