Who are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic, passionate and people-oriented Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to help engage and mobilise our new and existing volunteers.

Reporting to the Supporter Relations Coordinator and the Projects Team, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing an effective volunteer engagement program, including the management of the volunteer and intern HR lifecycle and adherence to good practice.
  • Recruiting and developing committed and active volunteers who will promote Islamic Relief Australia and its programs in the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities it works with.
  • Proactively building relationships and engaging with grassroots community groups to increase support for Islamic Relief Australia’s local and international projects.
  • Managing the organisation’s volunteer database to maximise opportunities for volunteer engagement and retention.

What do you need to have?

  • Knowledge of human resource management standards and practices applicable to the Australian not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience of working with volunteers and interns.
  • Engaging interpersonal skills and an ability to provide technical assistance and coaching support to a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Excellent analysis and reporting abilities; ability to independently assess needs and develop creative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Additional relevant language skills will be highly regarded.
