Join Australia’s leading disability service organisation and engage with people who are truly committed to what they do. Due to recent growth, HWNS has a newly created opportunity for a dedicated IT Service Desk Technician to be based at our Western Suburbs office in Melbourne.

Reporting to the Technician Lead, you will be responsible for efficient and stable IT infrastructure at HWNS. This role will work closely with and build relationships across all departments at HWNS, the IT team and external service providers to ensure that the best possible level of service quality and availability are maintained.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a minimum of one year experience in a similar role, excellent communication skills, team player attitude and a willingness to expand your knowledge.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for efficient and stable IT infrastructure at HWNS
  • To promote the IT&T Division of HWNS as an efficient, accountable and excellent service provider
  • Ensuring customer service excellence and a commitment to quality of outcomes
  • Focusing on continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ensure normal service is restored as quickly as possible to the business once an issue has been identified/logged
  • To ensure a wide variety of service requests are handled effectively and efficiently
  • Prompt response to all first level calls including investigation and providing a resolution for the incident
  • Effective, accurate and detailed call logging, tracking and remote desktop monitoring
  • Confidentiality and security of information is effectively maintained
  • Property, plant and equipment is adequately maintained to ensure safety
  • Work right within Australia
  • Hold a current Australian Drivers Licence

Key Experience and attributes

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including a clear and concise phone manner
  • Confidence in providing IT solutions and advice to a range of “customers”
  • Ability to patiently coach and guide users who may have little to no IT knowledge and experience
  • Enthusiasm about new technology
  • Excellent time management, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Tertiary IT qualifications (TAFE or equivalent)
  • Some understanding of Microsoft desktop productivity tools
  • Some understanding of networking and TCP/IP environments

A current Australian drivers licence will be required for this role, and preferably your own car as there will be occasional travel required.
