Background:

Gould League (GL) delivers environmental education excursions and incursions for kindergarten to Year 12 students with the themes of waste minimisation, biodiversity, and marine, freshwater and forest ecosystems.

Position Goal:

Sessional Educators are responsible for the delivery of high quality and engaging education programs. Flexible, knowledgeable and dynamic staff in this role will ensure high satisfaction from visiting teachers and strong levels of engagement from visiting students.

Location:

Currently recruiting for our Sustainability Education Centre in Cheltenham, Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary in Beaumaris, and incursions to Greater Melbourne pre-schools and schools. Strong preference for candidates who can teach across all locations.

Position Reports to: General Manager.

Gould League Sessional Environmental Educators are…

  •  Appropriately qualified and/or experienced i.e. Tertiary qualification in Science/Environment/Conservation/Education or equivalent work experience
  •  Highly effective and confident educators who utilise a variety of strategies to engage students and address visiting teacher needs
  •  Knowledgeable and positive about the environment and sustainable practices
  •  Respectful and attentive team players
  •  Quick learners who demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when plans change
  •  Excellent time managers who can prioritise and meet deadlines
  •  Able to demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  •  Proficient at building effective relationships with a diverse range of people
  •  Self-motivated, autonomous and active learners who are committed to ongoing personal development
  •  Competent in basic use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and the use of internet, emails and online calendars
  •  Happy to perform a variety of preparational tasks and cleaning/maintenance of educational materials
  •  Aware of safe work practices and able to actively seek to minimise risks

Strongly desirable are…

  •  Teaching qualification (VIT) or equivalent experience
  •  First Aid Certificate
