To change the world, charities and NFPs need amazing staff and volunteers – and that’s why EthicalJobs.com.au exists.
We bridge the gap between not-for-profit organisations that strive to make our world a better place, and all the passionate, values-driven job-seekers who want to “work for a better world”.
As a social enterprise and one of Australia’s top job-search sites for the not-for-profit sector and beyond, we work with 5,000+ organisations around the country, and have a passionate community of 200,000+ unique users visiting the site each month (plus a 140,000-strong email list). And we’re growing!
We’re a friendly and growing team of 17 people who are inspired to “work for a better world” through connecting people and organisations with a vision of a more equitable, just and sustainable world.
Our spacious office in Collingwood has loads of natural light, high ceilings, standing desks, a large outdoor deck for lunch in the sun and drinks after work, and great food and coffee just around the corner.
This is a brand new role for our team, and a unique opportunity for you to play a leading role in a fast-growing social enterprise.
In collaboration with internal stakeholders, you’ll create the future of the EthicalJobs.com.au platform. (Our current platform includes a mobile and (legacy) desktop site, employers portal, public API, soon-to-be-released Applicant Tracking System, internal statistics and more).
You’ll work primarily with our 5-person engineering team to advance our software development, including leading meetings, setting priorities, and managing project goals and schedules.
You’ll have responsibility for gathering internal and external feedback to prioritise product developments— from understanding the team’s product ambitions, to reviewing bug reports and feature requests from our own team, staying abreast of the competitive landscape and regularly seeking feedback from site users.
You’ll play a key role in quality assurance — writing user stories for the engineering team and testing features before release to ensure they are bug-free, address user needs, create a great user experience and fit with our (soon to be updated!) EthicalJobs.com.au branding.
You’ll also be a conduit between the engineering team, management and broader EthicalJobs.com.au team, clearly communicating priorities, fortnightly sprint focuses and leading demos of product releases.
Finally, you’ll be responsible for keeping the engineering team on track for key projects — developing clear briefs, directing statements of work and planning sprints to be able to deliver product releases on-time and to a high quality.
First and foremost, you’re someone who’s passionate about making a difference and “working for a better world”, and you’re excited about the work EthicalJobs.com.au does.
You’re also an experienced product owner. You’ve worked on tech products within an agile environment, have a keen eye for design and are passionate about building great UX.
You have excellent communication skills and you’re able to flex your style to communicate with technical and non-technical staff or external stakeholders.
Finally, you’re a big picture thinker who can also zoom in to focus on the details and ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. You have a high quality bar, but are also keen to get things done and keep projects moving along.
