About the Organisation

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is a Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides services to nine individual remote communities in the eastern Katherine region.

The Sunrise approach involves community people taking part in controlling their own health. Everything from financial management and governance, staff selection and service delivery priorities are directed by the organisation's Aboriginal Board and Community Health Committees.

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation works in partnership with Northern Territory PHN (NT PHN), who provide support services to health professionals and organisation across the Northern Territory. NT PHN offers support and assistance to eligible nurses and allied health professionals who are relocating to the NT for the purposes of employment.

About the Opportunities

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is currently seeking two Sexual Health Coordinatorsto join their dedicated team on a full-time, one year contract. These positions are based in Katherine, with a large amount of time spent working across the surrounding communities, where accommodation will be provided for any overnight stays.

The Sexual Health Coordinators will work in a collaborative manner to ensure SHS staff deliver high quality sexual health services to all Aboriginal people and communities within the Katherine region. This includes clinical delivery of sexual health services and checks, up-skilling of staff, and community education and health promotion activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of an incredibly important health program, where you'll enjoy the autonomy to shape the promotion and engagement elements as you see fit!

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing clinical services for clients to support the aims of the Sexual Health program;
  • Reviewing sexual health pathology results, and facilitating and overseeing the management, contact tracing, follow up, and notifications of sexually transmitted infection (STI) diagnostics and treatment;
  • Collaborating with youth, education and other agencies to develop, implement and evaluate health promotion activities with the goal of increasing community awareness, health literacy and knowledge of sexual health and blood borne viruses (BBVs);
  • Supporting the use and maintenance of Communicare STI/BBV clinical items and recalls to monitor the management and data for STIs and BBVs;
  • Ensuring all reporting requirements are well planned, coordinated and submitted in a timely and accurate manner; and
  • Providing up-skilling and mentorship to primary health care colleagues on sexual health topics.

Your dedication will be rewarded with a highly attractive base salary circa $101,726 - $110,729 (based on skills and experience) plus super.
