Regional Aged Care Advocate - Gippsland

Elder Rights Advocacy

About Elder Rights Advocacy

Our mission is to support older people’s right to quality care. We are a state-wide, Victorian non-profit organisation established in 1990 as Residential Care Rights Inc.

Our advocacy, information and community education covers all forms of care for older people, with a focus on Australian Government-funded home care and residential care. We are a member of the national Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), delivering the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP), an Australian Government initiative.

About the Regional Aged Care Advocate - Gippsland position

This is a new position as part of our commitment to expanding access to services for people living in regional and rural Victoria. It is a core position as part of our NACAP/OPAN Information, Advocacy and Community Education services.

Our newly established Traralgon office is located within the Traralgon Business Centre in Grey St. Initially the Regional Advocate will be the only Elder Rights Advocacy staff member based there, although other staff and volunteers involved in our Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) program may join the office at a later date. We currently have other Regional Advocates based in Bendigo and Geelong, along with a Melbourne based team.

The Regional Aged Care Advocate will lead our provision of information, advocacy and community education for older people and their families across the Gippsland region.
