Dress for Success Sydney is a charity that supports and empowers women in need to take back their confidence and achieve financial independence through employment. We do this by providing work appropriate interview and employment clothing, mentoring, job-search skills and career coaching at no cost to the women that we serve.

Every year we receive more than 120,000 items of clothing from our supporters/donors and retail partners to support the operations of our charity. Every single item is handled and sorted by our army of stock management volunteers. Dress for Success Sydney is not just a charity that enhances the lives of women, we are also in the business of stock management, logistics and merchandising.

With approximately one third of the items donated to us being re-distributed to our clients for interview, employment, court or important life events, the other two thirds are sorted, priced and tagged, stored and then transported to our sale events to fundraise for our charity and/or to provide a community service for our clients and the local residence through our community sales.

With the War on Waste movement also increasing the quantity of clothing that is being donated to our organisation, this position is pivotal and vital to the continued success of Dress for Success Sydney.

We have recently acquired a Logistics Centre to support our expanding stock and the logistics management aspect of our charity and it will be this role that will lead the way for us to achieve enhanced operational performance.

This role reports to the Operations Manager and is based at our Logistics Centre (the Centre) in Faversham Street Marrickville.

The Supervisor will demonstrate effective management of inbound and outbound inventory, stock management, Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and people management. This position will influence the team through an engaging and highly organised leadership style to achieve excellence by collaborating with volunteer teams and ensuring merchandise is readily available for the boutique, rural and regional clients and fundraising sales.

In this role you will:

  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Be creative and use your knowledge and networks to source appropriate stock as well as converting stock into fundraising opportunities
  • Create a Logistics team (primarily volunteers) to support you and the logistics function and inspire and develop the team in order to build individual capability

    • Managing goods inbound and outbound
    • Categorising stock, tagging and distribution
    • Maintenance, cleanliness and visual appeal of the warehouse
    • Effective waste management practices
    • Relevant WHS practices

We are looking for that little bit extra, so join us if you:

  • Have a passion and understanding of fashion and trends
  • Are used to rolling up your sleeves and ‘doing the doing’
  • Are an inspirational leader with strong people management skills preferably with volunteers
  • Have experience in a similar role within a retail environment or similar

  • Are flexible and adaptable to a fast paced and an evolving environment
