Your Community Health is seeking an enthusiastic Social Support Program and Men's Shed Worker to join the Social Support Program team in this part time (5 hours per week), fixed term position until end June 2019.

Your Community Health provides a comprehensive range of medical, dental and allied health services and support programs to anyone, through a combination of outreach, client-based and centre-based activities. Our purpose is to enable health, wellbeing and dignity for all people in northern Melbourne by providing responsive and accessible services.

About this role

The Social Support Program and Men's Shed Worker will assist with the day to day implementation of Social Support Programs.

Your passion and commitment will see you:

  • Facilitate group activities for people with MS
  • Assist in planning and delivery of physically and intellectually stimulating programs and activities for clients
  • Work co-operatively as part of the SSP team under the guidance and direction of the SSP Team Leader within the policies and procedures of the centre
  • Assist in planning and delivery of physically and intellectually stimulating programs and activities for clients
  • Have a working knowledge of all emergency procedures and ensuring client safety at all times
  • Provide personal care for clients as required

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Ability to work within a team
  • Experience and enjoyment of working in the aged care/disability and community services area, with an appreciation of the needs of the client group
  • Skills in managing time, setting goals and planning work priorities to meet goals and objectives
  • Qualifications minimum Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Leisure, Disability, or be working towards gaining qualifications.
  • A second language is desirable
