Your Community Health is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Counsellor to join the Counselling Discipline in this part time (0.7 FTE) fixed term role until end January 2020.

Your Community Health provides a comprehensive range of medical, dental and allied health services and support programs to anyone, through a combination of outreach, client-based and centre-based activities. Our purpose is to enable health, wellbeing and dignity for all people in northern Melbourne by providing responsive and accessible services. We provide priority access to those most at risk of health inequalities and those that may face barriers to accessing traditional health services.

About the role

This fixed term counselling position will work with young people, individuals and their families with issues including anxiety/depression, family violence, sexual abuse, stress, relationship and life stages issues, and loss and grief.

The position will be based at our East Reservoir site with some outreach.

Your passion and commitment will see you:

  • Demonstrate skills and experience in working with individuals, youth and families
  • Display knowledge and experience in working as a counsellor in a community health setting
  • Organise work cooperatively and independently in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Manage time effectively and meet targets

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • A degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Counselling, Family Therapy, Social Work or other appropriately related discipline, with eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association
  • Counselling and case work skills and experience over a broad range of psycho-social issues
  • Experience engaging and working with young people, adults and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge and experience in working as a counsellor in a community health setting
