The Role

The Coordinator Women's Support Services leads the development and delivery of a range of family and domestic violence (FDV) services to support women and children escaping FDV. This role oversees service delivery of a women's refuge and develops community partnerships to support a holistic approach to prioritising safety for women and children experiencing or at risk of FDV.

The Coordinator provides values based leadership which builds high performing teams and individuals. This role maintains an expert awareness of key issues and trends relating to FDV and leads the design and delivery of quality programs and advocacy strategies including delivery of a therapeutic group program and a trauma informed approach to support our clients.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Services field and/or significant experience in a comparable role
  • Demonstrated experience in service provision within the social services sector.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision, performance management and leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated experience in provision of family and domestic violence response service
  • Skills in complex case management, crisis response, risk assessment, safety planning, outreach, referral, advocacy, negotiation and team work.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence issues as they pertain to women and children impacted by violence and/or abuse in intimate relationships and/or the family.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a residential service and/or women's refuge
  • A satisfactory Police Clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • A current driver's licence
  • A Senior First Aid certificate

Before an offer of employment can be made, Communicare requires a National Police Clearance, not older than 6 months, and a Working with Children Check, where relevant, to be submitted.
