CERES Community Environment Park is an awardwinning, not-forprofit, environment park and urban farm located by the Merri Creek in East Brunswick, Melbourne. Once a landfill site and wasteland, today CERES is a thriving, vibrant community. With over 450,000 visitors a year, CERES is the most visited environmental centre in Australia.

About Habitat

The CERES Habitat Team manages a diverse array of sustainable technology including a variety of energy generating systems, PV and wind, water treatment systems (storm water, rain water and grey water systems), waste management systems (recycling, landfill and compost). The Team also manages the CERES gardens, most major and minor projects including maintenance on buildings and educational exhibits. The team also includes facility cleaning and OH&S support.

One could say we are responsible for the health of the CERES organism.

What we are looking for

You are skilled in working with timber, masonry and steel, physically fit and enthusiastic about working with volunteers. You are capable of maintaining the CERES workshop and recycled materials storage yard as functional accessible spaces. You will work on a variety of building types including weatherboard, straw bale, mud brick, concrete and bluestone and also maintain hard landscaping areas such as paths, retaining walls and fencing. You will support the maintenance of other types of infrastructure including renewable energy generation systems (solar, wind, solar thermal and biogas), water harvesting including underground and above ground tanks, pumps, sub surface and surface irrigation systems and a number of filtration systems.
