  • 12mth Maternity Leave Cover
  • With your event management experience, we need your strategic approach to raising revenue; your project management skills to ensure appropriate planning and progress reporting; underpinned by your passion for the cause of Cancer Council NSW
  • Drive community fundraising activities with the money flowing right back into cancer research, advocacy, prevention and support!

Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) is a community funded, community focused not for profit. Our unique combination of local program delivery, community engagement and national influence enables everyone who cares about cancer to make the biggest possible difference.

Summarise the role!

Based in our Orange office, you will work closely with our large team of committed volunteers and local supporters ensuring that CCNSW is able to connect with, and understand, the distinct needs of the communities in which we work. That knowledge will assist you in ensuring the delivery of CCNSW community fundraising events such as Relay for Life and ‘Stars Of’ within the local communities, ensuring targets are met and the profile of CCNSW lifted.

What skills are we looking for?

A collaborative approach in this role is essential – Collaboration with your community, your team mates, our volunteers and the wider CCNSW team. This role will also draw on your expertise in:

  • Fundraising or event management skills/qualifications
  • Relationship and stakeholder engagement
  • Project Management e.g. Planning, development and coordination
  • Achieving and exceeding financial targets
  • Strategic approach and ability to think innovatively
  • Ability to adapt and tailor your approach
  • Commercial awareness

What will I do?

This is so much more than a fundraising role and will allow you the opportunity to work independently to meet targets and raise our brand profile. Expectations are high, but the purpose of the role, and the knowledge of doing something with a purpose, will reward you every day.

You will:

  • Plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of community events, including working across multiple committees
  • Identify and realise opportunities for the community to contribute to our organisation mission through local fundraising initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the Cancer Programs Coordinator to ensure integration of cancer prevention, information and supportive care as part of all fundraising programs and events
  • Raise the profile of CCNSW as the local cancer charity and maintain high levels of brand and service recognition
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with CCNSW staff; volunteers working within the regional and central offices; and local communities
  • Effectively motivate, coach and influence committees and volunteers to assist in the delivery of event objectives

This is not your average job, so it’s not average hours! Because of the nature of working with the community, flexibility to work some evenings and some weekends will be required, with peak times of year sometimes resulting in evening committee meetings plus attending events on Saturdays.

You will be covering different geographical areas so you will need your C Class Driver’s license. Access to a pool vehicle is available.

Please note internally this role is called Community Relations Coordinator.
