The Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre (BRISSC) provides a feminist support service which is committed to working towards ending sexual violence and supporting women and their allies affected by violence. 

The Finance Worker will work with the BRISSC Collective to maintain accurate financial records and administer timely and accurate payroll and accounting systems, deliver and maintain budget preparation and financial reports as well as meet the organisation’s statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. Along with administrative duties, database and records management are also responsibilities of this position to achieve an effective, accountable, high quality service that reflects the philosophy, aims and objectives of the WCAA. 

This position will also work collectively with the Women’s House Shelta (Shelta) Finance Worker to provide the collectives with a cohesive overview of the overall financial position of the WCAA.

Workers are expected to support the BRISSC Collective in implementing decisions relevant to areas of financial accountability in all aspects of work; engage in self-reflective practice; demonstrate initiative and work autonomously where required; and ensure accountability to the BRISSC Collective and the WCAA. A sound understanding of, and relevant skills and experience in, the governance and planning of community based organisations are necessary requirements to fulfil the responsibilities of this role. 

This position will be based at Woolloongabba, however you will also be responsible for the financial activities of two additional outreach services, Brisbane South West Support located at Inala, and Northside Response to Sexual Violence based in the North Brisbane. It is expected that the hours of this position are worked to assist in covering the operational hours of 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. There are provisions for time off in lieu (TOIL). This position is available on a part-time permanent position, at 20 hours per fortnight.

BRISSC is a women’s only service and it is a genuine occupational requirement that workers be women (as permitted under Sections 25 and 104 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991).
