About the Position

Anglicare’s Community Aged & Disability teams provide support and services that enable our clients to maintain their independence - living happily and healthily within their own homes. We recognise that one size does not fit all, and working together is the key to great outcomes. Our non-clinical lifestyle programs are designed to support individual needs, incorporating the principles of social inclusion, choice and control, enablement, empowerment and independence; and our clinical supports include nursing and allied health care at home, along with domestic and personal assistance.

We are currently looking for a part time Social Worker to join our team providing clinical services to clients throughout the Logan and Brisbane South regions. The role is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of education sessions and/or workshops and to provide professional leadership and support to care staff, particularly in responding to emerging issues in providing services to people with complex needs.

About You

As an experienced Social Worker, with a background in either Community, Aged Care or Disability Services, your abilities will include:

  • Receiving and identifying referrals and conducting client consultations
  • Planning and implementation of service and treatment requirements
  • Management of a diverse, sometimes complex, case load
  • Facilitating both individual and group counselling sessions. Topics may include relationships, grief & loss and complex family situations
  • Supporting and training of staff in areas including psychosocial needs of clients and behavior management
  • Active contribution to client-centred care model, best practice and quality improvement measures

Along with a dedicated and energetic nature, our successful candidate will also provide:

  • The capacity to build rapport quickly and effectively, with a wide range of people, by utilising exceptional communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy, patience and respect while delivering flexible and responsive service
  • The ability to work as part of a cohesive team, show initiative and manage your own workload in a practical, autonomous way
  • A friendly, open and smiling countenance!

Your qualifications will include a:

  • Degree in Social Work or similar field
  • First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • Blue Card (Working with Children) with Yellow Card exemption
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • National Police Certificate
  • Membership in the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or eligibility to join

What We Offer

We support our staff with learning and development initiatives, an employee benefits program and progressive human resources management strategies, and are recognised as a leading employer in the non-profit sector. You will also enjoy:

  • Being a part of a dedicated and caring team of professionals, supported by a proactive and engaged manager
  • Working part time hours, close to home and supporting your local community
  • Ongoing personal and professional development and training
  • The chance to increase your take-home pay with Salary Packaging options
