About the Social Enterprise

Cooking with wood kills twice as many people each year than traffic accidents – it is one the world’s leading cause of premature death but is rarely talked about as it only effects the bottom billion. ATEC* Biodigesters International is an award winning startup social enterprise that produces, sells and distributes world-leading small-scale biodigester systems for developing country households. Now at 40 staff in Cambodia and with the introduction of PAYGO technology, we are now entering the next exciting phase of our journey and looking for an experienced Country Director to lead the transformation from start-up to scale-up.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Alignment with and commitment to personally uphold ATEC* mission, vision, and values
  • Extensive practical experience in business leadership and managing a successful business
  • Broad experience in most of the following areas: business strategy, financial
    management, human resource management, sales and marketing, supply-chain logistics, quality control, and customer care
  • Strong track record of developing and delivering an ambitious strategy for business growth within a complex setting
  • Experience in building effective and collaborative cross-cultural teams that are
    committed to the organisation’s mission and vision
  • Well-developed strategic, analytical, creative and conceptual thinking skills
  • Experience living and working in a developing country
  • Flexibility, adaptability, resourcefulness, tenacity, and resilience to handle the
    frustrations that will be thrown at you
  • Ability to coach and mentor others, and foster a positive organizational culture
  • A collaborative management style
  • Excellent spoken and written English

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • Knowledge of and experience in Social Enterprise and/or Renewable Energy
  • Experience living and working in Cambodia
  • Khmer language skills
