AIEF was established in 2008 in response to community demand from Indigenous families who choose to enrol their children in boarding schools.
Bringing together the government and private sector, AIEF provides scholarship funding for Indigenous students to complete Year 12 or tertiary studies, with career support to help them make a successful transition to their chosen careers.
AIEF has grown from one scholarship student in 2008, to now having around 450 students on scholarships each year and a network of over 600 Alumni and growing by over 70 graduates each year, from over 400 communities from every state and territory across Australia.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Programs Director has overall responsibility for the delivery and implementation of the AIEF Scholarship Program and AIEF Pathways Program and all of the activities and initiatives under each of those programs.
As AIEF’s Programs Director you will:
- Maintain an overarching and comprehensive view of all facets of the AIEF Scholarship and Pathways Programs, including conceptualising, planning, implementing and evaluating program improvements
- Ensure relevant program and people KPIs and business outcomes are set and achieved
- Maintain high morale, satisfaction and engagement of program team members
- Oversee all Scholarship Program distributions and acquittals
- Supervise, support and manage program staff including oversight of recruitment, on-boarding, performance management and professional development
- Oversee all program-related:
- policies and procedures
- strategies, submissions and proposals
- planning, risk-management and resource allocation
- reporting and evaluations
- Establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with partner schools and tertiary colleges
- Establish and maintain other relevant relationships with stakeholders including government departments, corporates and non-profits
We are looking for someone who is motivated by AIEF’s mission and values and:
- Has at least five years experience in program delivery and improvement preferably in an education, young people and/or employment environment, and an ability to drive program outcomes
- Has a high level of Indigenous cultural competency and extensive networks in Indigenous communities and organisations
- Is a highly skilled communicator with proven results in building effective and professional relationships with stakeholders, preferably students, educational institutions and corporates
- Has experience conceptualising, planning, delivering and evaluating programs and initiatives for young people
- Has a strategic mindset, and the capacity to balance strategic imperatives with “hands-on” operational work required of everyone in a small organisation
- Is an experienced manager with the ability to manage, lead and supervise staff
- Is highly organised, hardworking, self-motivated and able to manage timelines and deliverables
- Has strong written skills, particularly related to reports and proposals
This position is based in our Sydney office and travel, including interstate, is a normal part of the role.
