Country Impact Manager - East Africa

The position

Lead World Vision Australia's relationship with World Vision Field Offices in the East Africa region, overseeing the management of the full portfolio of projects within those offices that are supported by WVA. You will be responsible for leading all aspects of grant management, compliance and reporting for projects in your portfolio, collaborating and working cross-functionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Your role plays an integral part in the organisation, enabling us to support our mission of empowering Australians to create meaningful change for the world’s most vulnerable children and adults.

Your responsibilities:

  • Supporting the field office with due diligence, standing-up the grant once it has been awarded, quality implementation, monitoring, internal and external reporting, donor compliance, downstream partner compliance, financial and risk management and evaluation
  • Ensuring project portfolio is fully compliant and managed to the highest quality, establishing a platform for enhanced engagement with institutional donors, managing contractors, and other relevant supporters such as private donors, corporates and major donors
  • Regular monitoring of field programmatic and financial reporting, with accountability for following up to address issues and build capacity as required
  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders including other Country Impact Managers, Field Finance, Grant Acquisition and other support teams for effective grant management and coordinated engagement with Field Offices
  • Lead any Cat III emergency within the assigned country
  • Deliver appropriate growth within the portfolio by working with WVA’s Grant Acquisition team to identify and capitalise on growth opportunities

Who we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone with grant portfolio, compliance and risk management experience. You will be a multi tasker who is flexible, patient and adaptable, has excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise.

You will have:

  • High level written and verbal communication skills, with capacity to distil complex information into clear action points
  • Portfolio management experience, including an understanding of institutional donor requirements, contracting, and contract management
  • Design, Monitoring and Evaluation experience given resource constraints in field settings
  • Stakeholder and donor management skills
  • An understanding of procurement or grants structures and processes of the Australian Government, Managing Contractors, and/or other institutional donors
  • Knowledge of DFAT, and DFAT requirements (including accreditation needs)
  • Self-managed work experience, with ability to maintain focus and achieve outcomes under pressure
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications: International Relations/International Development, or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, e.g. WASH, Climate Change, Gender, Economics, Public Health, Evaluation
  • Relevant experience working in an East African country, including understanding and knowledge of cross cultural sensitivities.
