Service Officer - Injured Workers Service

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Injured Workers Service provides free non-legal advice to members of the ACT community in navigating the workers compensation system.

We’re looking for a Service Officer to provide first contact support to clients, triage questions about workers compensation, and assist in driving the promotion of the service and workers compensation generally through outreach activities such as attending events, social media. Working within the broader UnionsACT team the Injured Worker Service plays an important role in our efforts as a Trades & Labour Council to advance the interests of working people in the ACT.

This role would suit a law, justice and community services, or students in other similar fields or someone who is interested in the Trade Union Movement and is looking to take part in a role that interacts with people.

UnionsACT is the Trades and Labour Council for the ACT. We act as the peak body for trade unions in Canberra and have 22 affiliate unions that through UnionsACT coordinate and grow the trade union movement.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to union values
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to act with sensitivity and empathy with those who have experienced a workplace injury

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Currently undertaking studies in Law, Community Services, Employment or a similar field
  • Previous experience, if any, dealing with individuals in a support setting
  • Australian Drivers’ License

Salary & benefits

  • $57,233.28 part-time 24 hours a week at level 3.3 under our Enterprise Agreement.
  • Employer superannuation contribution of 14.5%
