The ACT Electoral Commission is undertaking enhancements to the operational capacity of Elections ACT to ensure that high levels of public confidence in electoral integrity and satisfaction with electoral services continue into the 2024 election and beyond.

To achieve this Elections ACT is seeking a motivated Misleading Electoral Advertising Officer to assist in compliance and enforcement of misleading electoral advertising under section 297A of the Electoral Act 1992 (Electoral Act).

Under the direction of the Misleading Electoral Advertising Manager this role will assist in the administration of misleading electoral advertising allegations, liaison with stakeholders and the conduct of formal assessments.

Staff of Elections ACT are expected to be proactive, demonstrate high quality customer service and show the capacity to work well within a small team. They must be willing to continuously improve, be outcome focused and accountable for their actions. It is important for the successful applicants to understand and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS and Elections ACT values of respect, integrity, collaboration, innovation, independence, impartiality and accountability, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect, Equity and Diversity framework.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: As an Electoral Officer the person occupying this position will be required to perform duties on election and referendum days and weekends. Please note that this position is predominantly based within the office of Elections ACT. Working from home arrangements can be approved on an ad hoc basis.

Note: This is a temporary position available for up to seven months. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
