About MYAN

Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network Australia (MYAN) is the national peak body representing the rights and interests of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds – Australia’s national voice on multicultural youth issues.

MYAN is auspiced and chaired by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY).

MYAN works in partnership with young people, government and non-government agencies at the state and national levels to support a consistent approach to addressing the rights and needs of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in policy and service delivery. MYAN facilitates a national approach to youth settlement through its broad networks and partners in each state and territory. MYAN also supports the development of young people’s leadership and advocacy skills through national youth events and a national Youth Ambassador’s Network.

About the Role

MYAN is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to take a lead role in the development, implementation, and coordination of various projects aimed at empowering multicultural youth across Australia. This role involves co-ordinating and monitoring key MYAN projects and coordinating state and territory project support officers with local co-design and consultation efforts.

The Project Coordinator will work on projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. This role requires a proactive, flexible and adaptable individual who is capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.

The Project Coordinator will ensure effective communication and integration between office-based operations and remote settings, achieving optimal project alignment and activities across different geographical areas.

This position is ideal for someone with a passion for making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds through innovative and inclusive projects.

  • Hours: 22.8 hours per week (0.6 FTE), Part Time
  • Fixed Term: until December 2024
  • Base Salary (SCHADS Level 5 ) : $93,860per annum (pro rata) plus Super and access to Salary Packaging (Salary Packaging is a great way to increase the value of your salary by allowing you to receive a portion of your income in the form of tax free or tax-deductible benefits.)
  • Location: Carlton Office
  • Interviews: to be held in the week beginning 17th June 2024

Key Selection Criteria

  • Proven experience in project coordination or management, particularly within a multicultural or non-profit context.
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of young people.
  • Strong team work skills with experience in overseeing complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Thorough understanding of co-design principles, particularly in the Australian multicultural context.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and capacity-building programs.

Proven ability to work with project management tools and develop comprehensive project reports also provide ongoing status updates (including budget reports) to stakeholders on project outcomes.
