The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Sewing Basket warehouse and store at Kincumber under the remit outlined by the Manager. This includes, receiving donations, coordination, categorisation, sorting donated stock, coordinating and supervising volunteers and employees (Warehouse and Retail Assistants, Employment Support Officer and Employees we Support), the presentation of the products in the retail shop, overseeing customer satisfaction and sales transactions.

About the role

In this role, some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, supervision and training to a team of employees and volunteers to effectively operate a donated goods categorising, sorting and dispatch process.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and training to a team of employees and volunteers to ensure and promote customer satisfaction in the retail outlet.
  • Provide customers with the necessary support to ensure that the shopping and donation experience is a happy and satisfying one and that the focus of employees and volunteers is directed towards achieving good outcomes for customers.
  • Establish positive relationships with volunteers to ensure that there are volunteers available every trading day or as required and to coordinate the volunteer roster in consultation with the Manager.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of The Sewing Basket warehouse to ensure a safe environment for customers, volunteers and employees, in compliance with the organisation’s policies, processes and procedures and meet all regulatory and legislative requirements as advised by relevant qualified staff within Achieve Australia.
  • Coordinate and allocate tasks to volunteers and employees to maximise the effective utilisation of the team in meeting the unique needs of The Sewing Basket business. Tasks can involve, categorising, sorting and pricing stock, dispatch sorted stock to the network of retail shops, replenishment of product displays in the shop and providing customers with service, advice and support.
  • Supervise the receipt of donated stock. The Kincumber warehouse is the main stock centre for business. A large proportion of donated stock that is received in Sydney will be transferred to the Kincumber warehouse for processing.
  • Ensure the timely provision of all mandatory reporting to meet the requirements of The Manager, The Sewing Basket.
  • Work closely with all Store Teams of The Sewing Basket, to regularly review operational processes and procedures as well as develop and implement initiatives supporting the continuous improvement of delivery of retail and warehousing services at The Sewing Basket, in line with management directives.

About you

  • Knowledge of and ability to implement warehousing and stock sorting capability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the critical importance of providing high standard customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and supervise people (volunteers and employees)
  • Current NSW Drivers’ License
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willing to attain)
  • Forklift license (or willing to attain)
  • Knowledge and understanding of sewing or related craft skill activities or willingness to learn
