Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative – Health & Wellbeing Services now has the following vacancy at our Shepparton site:

  • Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Support Worker
  • Full-time, 38 hours a week
  • This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designated position, classified under Section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act (2010). This employment opportunity is only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

About the Role

The Social and Emotional Wellbeing Support Worker will coordinate support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients within the Woongi Unit, focusing on understanding their wellbeing needs.

They will contribute to developing and delivering SEWB support and cultural awareness, providing culturally appropriate responses in collaboration with clinical staff to promote hope and future wellbeing.

About You

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in a health-related discipline or working towards them.
  • Sound knowledge of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander communities and relevant organisations within the Local Government Area of Greater Shepparton, with an understanding of health and wellbeing issues affecting these communities.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, history, and current issues, supporting cultural awareness and knowledge in the Woongi team.
  • Experience in delivering early intervention and prevention programs to address mental illness and foster future wellbeing.
  • Experience in direct care delivery and coordination of mental health, alcohol, and other drugs, and community support programs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, emphasising interpersonal communication, trust-building, confidentiality, and record-keeping.
  • Competence in using information technology and desktop applications, including electronic client record systems, Outlook, Word, Excel, and databases.
