The NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports people with disability to participate in and contribute to improving social and economic life, as well as provide certainty that people with disability will receive the care and support, they need over their lifetime. The NDIS provides multiple ways to assist people with disability to exercise choice, including taking reasonable risks in the pursuit of their goals and the planning and delivery of their supports. Your Opportunity

Join us in making a difference! The Community Engagement Facilitator (CEF) role, based in Cairns, is dedicated to addressing the needs of people living with disabilities and local communities. As a CEF with a background in marketing, media, and communication, you will lead efforts to enhance community engagement, identify barriers to access and inclusion, and empower individuals to have their voices heard. Working closely with Local Area Coordinators, you'll play a vital role in implementing our Community Capacity Building and Engagement Plan, striving for greater community inclusion and accessibility. Your Key Responsibilities

• Utilise their experience in marketing, media, and communication to effectively engage stakeholders and promote community initiatives.

• Establish strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, to address community gaps and needs.

• Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community capacity building projects.

• Design, deliver and evaluate workshops aimed at empowering communities.

• Building community awareness about access and inclusion challenges facing people with disability.

Requirements for Success

With a significant background in Community Development, and/or Disability,and/or marketing, media and communications sectors, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes.  Other requirements include:

• Hold a qualification or have extensive experience in Marketing and Communications, Allied Health, Social Work, Disability, Community Services or Community Development or equivalent.

• Possess strong local knowledge of the Cairns region.
• Have a sound understanding of the community services sector, including in the delivery of services where deep, concentrated and persistent disadvantage exists
• Strong understanding of community development principles and practices to facilitate meaningful engagement and capacity building within communities.
• Ability to embed yourself into teams to work effectively and also have the ability to work autonomously.
• Proficiency and understanding of marketing strategies and techniques to promote community initiatives and engage target audiences.
• Experience in utilising various media platforms (e.g., social media, press releases, digital marketing) to amplify messaging and reach wider audiences.
• NDIS Worker Screening and NDIA On-Boarding requirements

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
