Viv’s Place is a 60 apartment building in Dandenong providing long term affordable housing for women and children. it is an integrated housing and support program delivered in collaboration with Uniting Vic/Tas. It is the first Families Supportive Housing project of its kind in Australia.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The supportive housing model is centred on strengthening individuals and communities by developing sustainable and affordable housing. Viv’s Place brings people together in a managed building, which includes a ground floor community space including a trauma informed design with communal kitchen, dining and living spaces, children’s play areas, medical suites, consulting rooms and office space. An essential element to the project is creating an environment where there is both the perception and reality of safety.

Controlled access to enter the premises is a fundamental component. Controlled access is underpinned by the Resident Engagement Officer (REO) at the point of entry. The REO will welcome residents, their visitors and people delivering programs and services, and ensure that unwelcome visitors cannot access the environment.

The REO will be required to form excellent rapport and maintain relationships with both residents and the people who are supporting them. Making community connections and facilitating the delivery of externally provided programs on site will be a key part of the role.

YOU WILL:

  • Engage with tenants in an informal capacity, working from a strength based, client focused framework.
  • Monitor the well-being of through informal engagement and communicate issues to support and/or tenancy staff as they arise.
  • Assist community partners in facilitating events, programs and other initiatives from the communal spaces, including managing room bookings and access to building amenities
  • Provide phone concierge services.
  • Monitor and manage entry and exit of all tenants, visitors, contractors and visiting professionals to the building as required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (KEY SELECTION CRITERIA):

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in the homelessness sector (highly desirable).
  • Experience in Social Work/Front of House/Reception duties (highly desirable).
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability of effective IT skills and demonstrated capacity to use client management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with women and children with complex needs.
  • Positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
