Our dynamic Library Service is seeking an approachable, self-motivated and experienced librarian to develop and maintain our Information and Local Studies services.
Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.
You will lead a team that provides a high quality library service for the information, education and cultural needs of the community. You will also have an understanding of resources held in the local studies, family history and archival collections, and have the ability to promote and market our library services to the community.
You are an enthusiastic, customer focused professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The ability to lead and motivate a team and to work independently is critical to the success of this role. You have high levels of accuracy and the ability to meet agreed deadlines. You will have demonstrated ability deliver effective local studies and information services. Highly developed research skills are essential to this position.
Completion of a degree in information science or its equivalent accepted by the Australian Library and Information Association for professional membership is an essential qualification for the position. You must have or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check number.
